VODKA

Some people approached me with really good questions and one was actually really good;

"Is it better if we know how the drinks are made and their flavours ?"

I think it's the best idea!

At the catering school you start to learn how the drinks are made and their flavours before you get to mix them and make cocktails.

VODKA

Vodka is made from potatoes or grains, whiskey is made from corn or rye, beer is made from wheat, Gin is made from Juniper berries, Tequila is made from Agave, rum is made from Sugar cane. Vodka is rarely made from potatoes any more .. the difference between it and whiskey is that is in the distilling process. Really good Vodka has absolutely no flavour  That's why it's such a good alcohol for mixing. Cheap Vodka will give you one of the worst hangovers you'll ever have.

Today, I'm going to start with one of the most popular drinks of all, Vodka never fails to lift spirits with it strong taste.
It can be consumed neat as well as mixed with juices and other ingredients to make popular cocktails like Screwdriver, Greyhounds, Bloody Mary, etc.
Vodka is a neutral spirit that is without distinctive character, aroma, taste, or colour.
These properties are developed during the distillation process or by treating crudely distilled spirits with activated carbon or other materials. Finely distilled vodka may also be further purified and refined by treatment with activated carbon and other materials.

Vodka is usually not aged and can be made from grains, potatoes, sugars, fruits, and just about anything else that can be fermented to produce alcohol.

This makes vodka an economical spirit that can be made easily in a short amount of time from readily available materials.
